A Place for Short-Term Care

Innovative programs, advanced therapies, and leading-edge technology

At Steere House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, we offer experienced nursing care and rehabilitation for patients who require continued care between locations, providers, levels of care, or extended recovery time before returning home or to the most appropriate community setting.

Steere House offers a separate and distinct nursing unit for post-acute care dedicated to providing coordination and continuity during your transition. Our enhanced Transitional Care Unit is staffed by a team of medical professionals who provide short-term specialized rehabilitative care to help patients attain their highest level of functioning. Families and physicians have been choosing and recommending Steere House for its uncompromising commitment to excellence for over 147 years.

Let us help you on your road to recovery. Expect the Best…

  • Expect excellence from the staff. Our staff, from the nurses to the cooks and housekeepers, are dedicated professionals. Compassionate, patient, and kind, treating residents with dignity, providing the flexibility necessary to function at the highest level possible. Most of the staff have been with us a long time and all have an uncommon commitment to their work. They treat every resident as they would family.
  • Expect your family to become part of the Steere House family. We will be in close communication, providing emotional support, information and education.
  • Expect a warm, cheerful, positive atmosphere with opportunities for socialization, activities, and spiritual support.
  • Expect us to work closely with physicians and seek ways to improve the health and well-being of our residents.
  • As a non-profit organization governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, expect us to be focused on quality of care, not on a corporate mandate to make money. Fundraising enables us to offer extra activities to enhance the lives of our residents.
  • And, of course, expect your loved one to find our home clean and orderly, the food nutritious and appealing, and the staff and management responsive to your concerns.

Steere House will admit those patients/residents whose individual needs can be met by the staff and services available. A prospective patient/resident’s needs shall be thoroughly evaluated and the least restrictive alternative settings considered before acceptance for admission. The evaluation shall be a joint responsibility of the referring agency or institution, the admitting physician, and the nursing home as the receiving facility.

Any restrictions, priorities, or specific admission criteria shall be applied equally to all potential admissions regardless of the source of referral, race, creed, ethnic origin, gender, or gender orientation, in compliance with State and Federal anti-discrimination statutes.

Referrals of residents for Steere House shall be accepted from hospitals, other nursing homes, self-referrals, relatives of residents, guardians, officials of State and County agencies, community agencies, religious agencies, and physicians.
