A place to call home...

Treating your loved one with dignity and respect.

As you begin your search for a nursing home for your loved one, you may be wondering,“How can I  distinguish one nursing home from another?”  We understand your anxiety and we’d like to help.

We appreciate that residents may like to begin their days at different times, have their breakfast when they are ready, or choose to participate in daily group activities one day or pursue an independent interest in another. We also offer a variety of menu selections, prepared by our chefs from scratch. The staff works diligently to accommodate individual preferences and lifestyles.

Expect the Best…

  • Expect excellence from the staff. Our staff, from the nurses to the cooks and housekeepers, are selected not only for their experience and expertise but also for their sensitivity, humor, patience, and flexibility. Many of the staff have been with us a long time and all have an uncommon commitment to their work. They treat every resident as they would family.
  • Expect your family to become part of the Steere House family. We take pride in open communication, providing emotional support, information and education.
  • Expect a warm, cheerful, positive atmosphere with opportunities for socialization, activities, and spiritual support.
  • Expect us to work closely with physicians and to seek ways to improve the health and well-being of our residents.
  • As a non-profit organization governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, expect us to be focused on quality of care, not on a corporate mandate to make money. Fundraising enables us to offer extra activities to enhance the lives of our residents.
  • And, of course, expect your loved one to find our home clean and orderly, the food nutritious and appealing, and the staff and management responsive to your concerns.

Steere House will admit those patients/residents whose individual needs can be met by the staff and services available. A prospective patient/resident’s needs shall be thoroughly evaluated and the least restrictive alternative settings considered before acceptance for admission. The evaluation shall be a joint responsibility of the referring agency or institution, the admitting physician, and the nursing home as the receiving facility.

Any restrictions, priorities, or specific admission criteria shall be applied equally to all potential admissions regardless of the source of referral, race, creed, ethnic origin, gender, or gender orientation, in compliance with State and Federal anti-discrimination statutes.

Referrals of residents for Steere House shall be accepted from hospitals, other nursing homes, self-referrals, relatives of residents, guardians, officials of State and County agencies, community agencies, religious agencies, and physicians.

SKILLED NURSING

SKILLED NURSING

Activities are an integral part of the culture change movement and

central to person-centered care. It is essential for residents' quality

of life.

Our activities program is designed to keep residents engaged and

entertained, but more importantly offers physical and mental benefits

important to the social and educational needs of our residents.

Activities are open to residents, providing a wonderful opportunity

to make new friends or perhaps include a family visitor. We host a

variety of concerts, aroma & reiki therapy, tai chi, and floral design

classes, along with much more.

Our entire facility is WiFi capable! Our activities staff can provide

loaner tablets, virtual music, and other tech-friendly opportunities.

All rooms are equipped with free basic cable TV and phone services.

Residents are also encouraged to pursue individual activities if they

prefer.

SKILLED NURSING

SKILLED NURSING

Steere House residents receive daily clinic services and lots of attention to ensure any medical challenges are detected early and addressed immediately.

Each resident is assigned a primary Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) who develops an in-depth understanding of their resident’s background, medical history, personality, and any other factors that could influence their care. A nurse practitioner serves residents on a regular basis and works closely with our Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and physician geriatric specialists.

Following an illness or skilled rehabilitation, a restorative exercise and therapy program ensures that residents maintain the highest possible level of functioning.

Thanks to a unique Medicare insurance program and excellent inhouse

medical capabilities, many conditions can be treated without

hospitalization.
